Pro Mods Return to the Motorplex

PITTSBORO, N.C. (April 18, 2016): The Professional Drag Racers Association (PDRA) brings the quickest and fastest eighth-mile doorslammers on the planet to Texas Motorplex, May 19-21. Pro Mods of every make and model will take to the track, going from 0 to 230 MPH in just 660 feet in less than 4 seconds. Blown, nitrous-oxide assisted, turbo and naturally aspirated cars will all take on the legendary eighth-mile to see who will be crowned this year’s Texas Nationals Champions.

Missile-like Jet Cars will be going head-to-head in a unique jet car match race and the PDRA is thrilled also to feature Danny O’Day’s ATI Wheel Stander, the world’s quickest wheel stander.

Texas Motorplex is a highlight on the PDRA tour for its rich history and phenomenal racing surface. In NAS Racing Pro Extreme Jason Scruggs hopes to continue domination of the quickest and fastest class of the PDRA in his Mississippi Missile. To do that, Scruggs must fend off Frankie Taylor, Randall Reid and Brandon Pesz, who all call the Motorplex their home stop on the PDRA tour.

Switzer Dynamics Pro Nitrous presented by MoTeC Systems has been bringing out the fiercest competition of the PDRA. Any one of the men or women of the class could bring home the trophy on race day. Plus, the special race-within-a-race, the Flatout Gaskets Nitrous Wars, will determine who is the quickest in qualifying and who gets bragging rights with the nitrous bottle trophy.

Texas boys Richard Holt and Todd Moyer will look to take out the heavy hitters i GALOT Motorsports Park Pro Boost, a class which pits different power adders against one another in heads up competition.

In a class that redefines the term “extreme,” two wheeled riders will race at speeds of more than 175 MPH in just over four seconds. Texas’ own Jeff House will look to knock down class leaders Chris Garner-Jones and Eric McKinney in Drag965 Pro Extreme Motorcycle.

The bad boys of Pro Extreme, the fire breathing Pro Nitrous machines, the side-by-side thrill of Pro Boost, the “Mountain Motors” of Extreme Pro Stock, and the wild rides of Pro Extreme Motorcycle will excite fans with ground-shaking horsepower and mind-blowing performance. The semi-pro classes of MagnaFuel Top Sportsman and Lucas Oil Products Top Dragster will also be on display for the weekend, as well as the young guns of MegaCorp Pro and Talbert Top Junior Dragster. New this year, the PDRA offers a Bracket Bash to local competitors. There’s $3,000 on the line for all competitors running 4.99 or quicker in this event.

Military who present their valid military ID will get in free to all nine PDRA events in 2016. The PDRA is committed to giving back and expressing appreciation to servicemen and women.

Open testing held on Thursday, May 19. Qualifying begins Friday. One final qualifying session will be held Saturday morning with eliminations to follow. Thursday tickets are just $10. Discount tickets for Friday and Saturday are available at www.pdra660.com. Kids 12 and under and those with a valid military ID are free.
