Mountain Motors Return to ‘The Rock’ with PDRA Spring Nationals PITTSBORO, N.C. (March 28, 2016): Again and again Rockingham Dragway has been the site for historical Mountain Motor Pro Stock runs. After a one-year hiatus these naturally aspirated beasts will return to Rockingham Dragway, running in the Extreme Pro Stock class of the PDRA Spring Nationals, April 7-9. Several of the biggest names in the field will be making their return to professional racing with this event. Two-time world champion John Montecalvo, fellow New Yorker John Pluchino, and Dwayne Rice’s Mountain Motor Mafia entry will all take to historic Rockingham Dragway. Plus, former champion Doug Kirk is resurrecting his Extreme Pro Stock interests and will also be vying for the first Extreme Pro Stock title of the season, along with a host of others. “Extreme Pro Stock is going to be a great part of our show at the Spring Nationals,” stated PDRA Race Director, Bob Harris. “We know our fans missed them and we’re excited to have Pro Stock back. No one will want to miss their return!” Extreme Pro Stock covers the eighth-mile in four seconds at speeds over 200 MPH. All horsepower is generated from the monster-sized engines of over 800 cubic inches. Of all PDRA classes, Extreme Pro Stock most closely resembles its factory-made origins and pits Ford versus Chevy and Dodge to see who will dominate.     The PDRA also features Pro Extreme, the quickest and fastest eighth-mile doorslammers on the planet; Pro Nitrous, the series’ most competitive category; Pro Boost, turbos taking on blowers in legal trim; Pro Extreme Motorcycle, the wildest ride on two wheels; plus Top Sportsman, Top Dragster, Pro and Top Junior Dragster and new this year a Bracket Bash for local competitors. Side-by-side jet cars and a wheelstander put the exclamation point on this one-of-a-kind show. A full day of testing begins on Thursday, April 7.
