PDRA Hires Will Smith As Marketing & Promotions Coordinator

PITTSBORO, N.C. (January 13, 2016): As the Professional Drag Racers Association prepares for its third national tour, the staff and ownership continue to increase their commitment to sponsors, racers, and fans alike. The PDRA is proud to welcome its newest marketing team member, Will Smith. Smith will work alongside entertainment veteran production and marketing executive Shawna Brakefield, also recently hired to expand PDRA’s marketing and promotional efforts. Smith will work closely with PDRA sponsors in fulfillment and engagement, as well as further race promotions and branding.

Smith grew up in drag racing and has been involved with the sport both professionally and as a hobby for many years. For the past three years, Smith has served as Marketing Manager at Speedtech.

“I welcome this great opportunity to work with one of drag racing’s most promising organizations,” stated Smith. “I have a passion for drag racing and I believe this is a great fit. I’m very grateful to be involved in the PDRA. Having worked with Speedtech and been a sponsor of the organization, I’ve met a lot of great people. Now I’m looking forward to building upon those relationships in a new capacity, as well as generating new relationships with racers, sponsors and fans.”

Smith, who hails from Tuscaloosa, Alabama, bracket races on the weekends when not working other racing events and is familiar with every aspect of racing from driver and crewman to sponsor relations and team management. Smith earned his degree in Marketing from the University of Alabama.

“Will is a welcomed member of the team not only for his vast knowledge of racing and motorsports, but his incredible integrity and work ethic,” stated Brakefield. “We are very lucky to have him. Will’s contribution is a critical piece to PDRA’s expansion in 2016.”

The 2016 PDRA Tour kicks off in Tulsa, Oklahoma at Tulsa Raceway Park, March 11-12.
