Godspeed Brian!

Our beloved announcer and friend, Brian Olson, passed away early Sunday morning, August 2, 2015. We are deeply saddened by this loss. Words cannot adequately express our grief or condolences for Brian’s family and friends.

On July 3, 2015 Brian was in a severe motorcycle accident while on his way to a drag race near his Peru, Indiana home. He was recently released from the hospital and was recovering at home when he passed away unexpectedly. He celebrated his 58th birthday on July 6, while in the hospital.

Brian announced for the PDRA since its inception in 2014 as a 30 year drag racing commentator veteran. He was often the face of the PDRA, doing Motor Mania TV interviews and commentary. He summed it up in an interview in early 2014 when he said, “I think that’s the most important part of this - the friendship and camaraderie.” He was certainly a great friend and was deeply loved by all who knew him. He will be greatly missed by everyone at the PDRA and across the industry.

Besides announcing for the PDRA, Brian announced for countless other high profile series and events. He also was a driver himself, a custom car painter, team manager and television spokesman. He lived life to the fullest, embracing each of his roles and the people around him.

The PDRA owners and staff send their deepest sympathies to the Olson family and all who mourn Brian’s passing. This is an astounding loss to us all.
