Classic Graphix Provides #1 Qualifier Award in Pro and Top Junior Dragster

PITTSBORO, N.C. April 16, 2015: Number one qualifiers in PDRA Pro and Top Junior Dragster will get an extra one hundred bucks at each event this season thanks to the folks at Classic Graphix. Classic Graphix is the Official Apparel Company of the PDRA and also operates the PDRA Souvenir Trailer. Their catchy, modern designs have been a big hit with PDRA racers and fans. Many teams also utilize Classic Graphix for crew uniforms and team t-shirts.

The company has already been giving back to the racers by sponsoring the PDRA Best Appearing Crew Award. Now, they are further increasing their involvement by sponsoring the Classic Graphix Pro and Top Junior Dragster Number One Qualifier Award. “We know a lot of the Junior Dragster racers and a lot of their families buy apparel from us so we thought it would be neat to give back to them. They are the future of the sport. ” stated Scott Bathurst, the main force behind Classic Graphix.

“We’re a family business that’s been in business for 30 years,” Bathurst said of the company’s history. “We got started in our garage doing t-shirts. We got into the drag racing scene, and I started flying back to Tennessee and South Carolina to see the Pro Mod cars run, picking up customers that way. I’ve been doing Jason Scrugg’s shirts since 1995. When the PDRA started, Jason contacted us about being the Official Apparel Company of the PDRA and running the souvenir trailer. We’ve been doing that since the beginning.”

The Southern California based company works with some of the top artists in the industry, providing apparel and crew uniforms for dirt track, circle track and boat racing teams, as well as local constructions companies, school teams and more. Barthurst says their partnership with the PDRA has been a great fit for everyone.

“It’s been a great experience. We’ve enjoyed doing something new. For 30 years racers have called us up and told us what they want on their shirts and we do it. With the PDRA souvenir trailer, we come up with all the designs and concepts ourselves. It’s a totally different deal even though it’s still a race shirt. It’s been neat to come up with the designs, have the fans like them, and know we’ve come up with a good design. Plus, we can listen to what the fans say, being that we’re the manufacturer. If a lot of people ask for a certain type of shirt or a certain type of design, we can come back and develop it ourselves. We get to actually listen to the fans and racers and deliver what they want.”

Classic Graphix recently began producing their crew uniforms in house. “We’ve been doing them overseas for several years and just within the last year moved our operation in house. We’ve got new equipment, thanks to the business we picked up from the PDRA,” Barthurst explained. The new equipment includes a 16 color machine and an embroidery machine.

Since Classic Graphix is located on the West Coast and the majority of the PDRA events are contested in the eastern U.S. the company struck up a partnership with Flying A Motorsports, the Official Motorhome and Trailer Supplier of the PDRA, to haul the souvenir trailer to each event. “We couldn’t do this without Flying A Motorsports, because it wouldn’t be feasible to base a souvenir trailer for the PDRA out of California. They are going to the race with a motorhome anyway, so they tow our trailer to the events. It was a partnership that was put together by Jason, Bob Harris, the PDRA and Alan over at Flying A Motorsports. It just worked out for everybody.”

To see Classic Graphix’s lineup visit the PDRA store. Official event t-shirts are posted one week before each event for a limited time for those unable to make it to the event. After that those shirts are available only in person at PDRA events.
