Sonny's Racing Engines Announces Pro Nitrous Low
Qualifier Challenge
Sonny's Racing Engines is proud to announce that they
will once again be providing support to PDRA
competitors with the Sonny's Pro Nitrous Low Qualifier
Challenge.
Building on the success they had as an integral part
of the PDRA's inaugural 2014 season, Sonny's Racing
Engines, of Lynchburg, Virginia, has stepped up once
again to the tune of $33,000 in contingency and bonus
payouts.
This season the Sonny's Pro Nitrous Low Qualifier
Challenge will pay $500.00 to the No.1 qualifiers in
the Switzer Dynamics Pro Nitrous category, regardless
of what engine they use.
In addition, at all 10 events Sonny's will pay
$1,000.00 to the Pro Nitrous winner and $300.00 to the
runner-up if they are running a Sonny's engine.

"The Pro Nitrous class has been
growing and we are excited to continue
our support of the PDRA through this
new bonus program," said Todd Hoerner,
Sales Manager/Race Tech Support at
Sonny's Racing Engines.
Sonny Leonard brings more than 40
years of experience to the program,
both on the track and in the 14,000
sq. ft. facility that today houses his
state-of-the-art engine design,
manufacturing and testing operation
utilizing 5-axis CNC machining.
The Sonny’s Racing Engines name has
been associated with numerous
important chapters in racing history,
among these being Bill Kuhlmann’s 1987
smashing of the 200-mph barrier in the
quarter-mile by a full-bodied car.
Kuhlmann utilized a 615-cid engine kit
purchased from Leonard to accomplish
the feat.
There have been numerous other
performance landmarks established in
multiple types of motorized
competition, thanks to the power and
dependability provided by Sonny’s
Racing Engines.
“Having Sonny Leonard and Sonny's
Racing Engines as key players is a
huge boost to the PDRA’s credibility
and standing among racers and race
fans,” said PDRA Race Director Bob
Harris. “Sonny has seen it all and his
experience in the sport both as a
racer and engine builder is second to
none. He has given PDRA racers
something big to shoot for thanks to
his generous contingency and bonus
programs. We certainly appreciate
Sonny’s Racing Engines for everything
they do for our sport.”
